Chase or chase away

A lot of times we hear people saying "chase your dreams." But shouldn't it be the other way round, where people should be saying chase away your dreams instead of saying chase your dreams because that is what most of us seem to be doing.But that is the way we work right? We tell children at home to share their things with other kids and when he actually shares his healthy lunch with his friends, we scold him for doing it. It is funny to see how we live in a society filled with paradoxes. Lucky are those whose dreams see the light of the day for most of the have it buried deep inside. Its all cool to say YOLO but, how any of us actually grasp the profound meaning lying in that acronym? Very few of us do. We are all so worried about making good impression among our peers that, most of the times we forget to live our life. As a human being, it is very essential for us to make a space for ourselves where, there would be no fear and inhibitions. They say that when you take up a subject of your choice, you need not work even a single day for the rest of your life. We as people are capable of creating that space only in the area that we are passionate about. A lot of people start out with a spark in their heart but, somewhere down the line, we get bogged down by societal pressures and the spark dies out eventually. Being a student of media studies, I often have people telling me that this is not a field that is very unsafe for women. Oh! please come on, I am not here to live a safe life. If that is my sole purpose, I ma as well sit at home all the time, feeling completely safe. To all those out there trying hard to convince people that what they are doing is good, lets stop talking and let the passion in our eyes start talking for us and to those putting aside your dreams in order to please someone, its time that you wake up from the slumber and get going towards your dreams for life is too short.
